Controller
Western Canada’s most exciting new life style and recreational development is seeking a Controller to be responsible for all aspects of the Finance and Administration department in Cranbrook, British Columbia. Wildstone is a growing recreational development and as such requires the services of a highly skilled and focused financial professional who is able manage and oversee a major privately owned corporation.
The successful candidate will report to the Chief Operating Officer and will be accountable and responsible for all elements of Finance and Administration.
Responsibilities:
- P/L and balance sheet management.
- Managing and owning the financial and management reporting process.
- Planning / controlling (budgeting, forecasting, analysis, internal control).
- Treasury (effective cash-flow management and routines, forecasts, etc.).
- Cost control activities and initiatives across the company
- Fiscal (compliance, corporate-/ income-/ sales-/issues/audits), including liaising with auditors, tax advisors and banks.
- Ensuring compliance of business to rules and procedures, accounting or otherwise.
- Maintaining major financial relationships as required.
- Building and driving a business control environment.
- Identify and manage the financial business risks and insurance requirements.
- Providing financial feedback to stakeholders via monthly financial statements.
- Negotiating and closing on financial transactions on behalf of the company as required.
- Overseeing all financial control activities of the company.
- Oversee information technology.
- Proactively take action to improve/implement the finance area with regard to policies, procedures and standardization, as well as internal controls, financial systems and related upgrades to streamline current practices.
- Hiring, developing and retaining of competent finance staff to increase the value of the F&A Department.
Qualifications:
- A qualified accountant (CA).
- A minimum of 7 years experience as a Controller, with a minimum of 5 years experience in managing a finance team.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate financial performance to senior management.
